My new phone

Jordon went out and bought me a Samsung Galaxy 550 today for an early anniversary gift.  I have had my Samsung Link/Freeform for over a year and I really liked it but it’s time to upgrade to a HSPA phone to take advantage of SaskTel’s network.  After looking around, I wanted to stay with Virgin Mobile.  They have been great to deal with and they are pretty inexpensive for what I need.  Plus their technical support is absolutely amazing to deal with.

Samsung Galaxy 550 from Virgin MobileWhile Jordon is in love with his Blackberrry Curve, he decided to get me an Android phone.  While BBM would be fun, it’s not that much more useful than texting for me.  What I am excited about having is my email, synchronized calendar, address book, Twitter, WordPress, Flickr, and Foursquare all on my phone.  It’s not the fastest smartphone out there and isn’t an iPhone but it’s good enough for me.   I can’t wait to play with it for a while.

While I am talking about Virgin Mobile, Visions Electronics is giving away free Virgin phones with no contracts.  You can cancel a month into it if you want.  They have the LG Rumor 2, the Samsung Gravity 3, and some others.

Mark is 11

My oldest boy turns eleven today.  Jordon has the details of what we got him and he was up this morning at 6:30 a.m. to open his gifts and hang out a bit before heading to school.  We are having lunch with Jordon at work and then picking up some football gloves (apparently they get sticky when wet) and a case for his new cell phone.  He is pretty excited.

The bad part of all of this is that Jordon gave Mark the NFL Training Camp game and I have the EA Sports Active 2 and the controllers are interchangeable.  Jordon just casually brought up to Mark that I can also work out with him and do football drills.  I am not sure I like the sound of that.  Hey look, an intensive training component so I can be ready for the NFL Combine.  That looks painful and I am not sure of the payoff.  Jordon assures me that quite a few 41 year old women get drafted in the NFL Draft each year but I think he is lying :-)

Tonight we are off to Fuddruckers with friends and family and then to the Grand Slam Batting Cages and Ruckers.  It’s a gorgeous day out today so hopefully the weather will hold and it will be nice tonight.

I mean it, no comment because I lost my cell phone two weeks ago.  I came into the house, said I needed to charge it and it disappeared.  Jordon and I have ripped the house apart.  We have sent a flashlight and camera down a cold air duct, we have decluttered the entire house (which is another story) and still no cellular telephone.  It’s frustrating but no matter what I do, no cell phone.

Of course the easy thing to do would be to call it but I have a bad habit of powering down my cell phone.  It drives Jordon crazy as he can never reach me but now I have to figure out what I want.  I am torn between a Samsung Link (Jordon is fond of his) and the LG Rumor2.  Whatever I get, I want it to be a better texting phone.

So how does Jordon handle me constantly losing my cell phone?  We went to Best Buy and I was just looking at some cheap phones that I wasn’t that impressed with and he quietly growled, “Get the phone that you love enough that will stop losing and destroying.  Whatever it costs then will be worth it.”  In other words he is a little bit frustrated with me.

While we were at Best Buy, Jordon picked up a case for his phone and bought a 4 gig memory card for it.  It went from holding 17 photos to now holding over 11,000 photos.  Quite an upgrade.
