As Jordon noted, Mark was presented with a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for service at the Delta Bessborough Hotel on Wednesday.

Here he is after the ceremony and reception with his medal.  We stopped by for a bite to eat afterwards.  While Mark has spent hundreds of hours helping out in shelters with the homeless over the years, the award was also the responsibility of Cam Broten, our local MLA who nominated Mark.  Cam is a great MLA and a good role model for Mark and we are thrilled to have him as part of our community.  It was good to see Cam give greetings from the Opposition Party and was nice to chat with him after the ceremony.

Also that night I got to meet Ward 5 city councillor Randy Donauer.  Councillor Donauer was there with his son who was also a recipient of the award.  Looking back at it, I think we were all more excited than our kids were.
